Hurricane Matthew was one of the strongest hurricanes to form in the Atlantic Ocean in a decade.
Through the Disaster Recovery Act of 2016, the General Assembly has authorized an allocation of $20 million to the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA) through the North Carolina Housing Trust Fund to help many of those in our state who have suffered from this disaster.
The City of Goldsboro applied for and received grant funds from NCHFA through the Essential Single-Family Rehabilitation Loan Pool – Disaster Recovery (ESFRLP-DR) in the amount of $150,000. These funds are to be used to assist with up to $40,000-worth of repairs or modifications per eligible owner-occupied home affected by Hurricane Matthew. The time period of this grant is 30 months starting January 24, 2017 and ending on June 30, 2019.
