Volunteers are needed to clean up and repair damage caused by Hurricane Matthew.

LTDR-WC membership is comprised of those organizations and agencies that have something to contribute to the recovery effort. Currently around three dozen entities are represented. Any other Wayne County group that would like to help is welcome to join.

Organizations and groups that would like to come for a few days or a few weeks are welcome. Volunteers are needed for tasks ranging from casework to making sandwiches to putting on new roofs. There is something for everyone to do.

And if you or your group – civic, social, religious – would like to collect “stuff” or conduct a drive, any item that might be needed if your home flooded or a tree fell through will be needed. Monetary donations are definitely needed, but so are cleaning supplies, safety items (googgles, gloves, masks, etc.), and tools and building materials, as well as household and personal items.

There is a ongoing need for case managers. Case managers work directly with survivors to assess their disaster-caused unmet needs, organize and coordinate information on available resources that match those needs, present the survivor’s case to the LTDR’s Unmet Needs Committee, and monitor the survivor’s progress toward recovery. If you are interested in volunteering as a Case Manager, please contact e-mail disasterrecovery.waynenc@gmail.com or leave a message at (919) 735-4811, ext. 113.
